After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cypress, the Chaparral Cowboys were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 54-44 win over Wooster. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 30% better than the opposition, as Chaparral's was.
Qualib Ghallab was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Chaparral's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Williams, who scored nine points.
Loss or not, Wooster got some senior leadership from Jamal Gaitor who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds and Jared Marquicias who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Gaitor hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Wooster, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
