Basketball Recap: Boyd Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Boyd had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. It was close, but on Tuesdaythey capped 2025 with a 54-52 victory over the Petrolia Pirates. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 685th, while the Pirates are ranked 1427th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boyd's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Petrolia, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boyd will square off against Pilot Point at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Yellowjackets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Petrolia, they will host Windthorst at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
