Boardman scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took down Harding 64-46. Given Boardman's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Harding is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boardman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sarah Bero, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bero scored 15 or more points. Samantha Duble was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Howland can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Sunday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 69-28 victory over Mayfield. That looming 69-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Howland yet this season.
Howland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alyssa Massucci led the charge by scoring 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Barrish, who scored 14 points.
Boardman's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Howland, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Boardman skirted past Howland 38-36 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Boardman repeat their success, or does Howland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
