Last Saturday, Neumann-Goretti took their match at home with ease, bagging a 77-44 victory over Spring-Ford. Given Neumann-Goretti's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Spring-Ford is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann-Goretti's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Torrey Brooks Jr., who scored ten points along with six assists and four steals, and Larenzo Jerkins, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The match was Jerkins' third in a row with at least ten points. Khaafiq Myers was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, even though St. Edward scored an imposing 60 points on Sunday, Imani Christian Academy still came out on top. Imani Christian Academy enjoyed a cozy 76-60 victory over St. Edward.
Imani Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but RJ Sledge led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Nate Brazil, who scored 20 points along with four steals.
Neumann-Goretti's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. As for Imani Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
