The Mooresville Pioneers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 83-61 margin over Martinsville. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Mooresville with their most commanding win of the season.
Aj Defur continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 37 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wilkinson Elma, who scored 16 points.
Several Artesians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Stroud, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Grady Gardner, who scored 15 points.
Mooresville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Martinsville, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Mooresville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Center Grove at 7:30 p.m. Center Grove will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Mooresville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Martinsville, they and South Vermillion will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Martinsville is coming into the matchup with seven straight losses on the road, meaning South Vermillion will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
