After flying high against the Jasper Bulldogs last Friday, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs came back down to earth. West Orange-Stark was beaten by Silsbee 70-32 on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Orange-Stark in their matchups with Silsbee: they've now lost eight in a row.
Silsbee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jena Warden, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Warden continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Monica Bottley, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals.
West Orange-Stark has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Silsbee, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Little Cypress-Mauriceville the next time they take the court. West Orange-Stark will head out to face Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Silsbee will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
