They claimed a resounding 76-47 win over Smithson Valley on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Veterans Memorial who now have 16 in a row.
Demarion Dennis was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and four steals. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gervai Maeweathers, who scored 16 points.
Despite the loss, Smithson Valley still got an impressive performance from Jason Cruz, who scored 12 points. The game was Cruz's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Goode, who scored nine points.
Veterans Memorial pushed their record up to 23-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Smithson Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Veterans Memorial will be playing at home against Seguin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Seguin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Veterans Memorial is ranked 16th). As for Smithson Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
