Softball Recap: Marquette Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Marquette won the last time they faced Putnam County and things went their way on Friday too. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Panthers. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Marquette let Taylor Cuchra and Makayla Backos run wild. Cuchra went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Backos went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles Backos has posted since back in April. Hunter Hopkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Marquette is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 20-6 record this season. As for Putnam County, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-14.

Coming up, Marquette will host Midland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Putnam County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Henry-Senachwine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
