The Canon City Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Widefield. Canon City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gladiators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Michael Davenport was a one-man wrecking crew for Widefield as he dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Williams-grady, who scored nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Canon City has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Widefield, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canon City will square off against the Terrors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Palmer has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 468 points over their last seven games. Widefield will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. Mesa Ridge will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
