Division III recap Nov. 7, 2012
Middletown extended the longest winning streak in Division III this week by beating East Greenwich, 20-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Moses Brown's dynamic duo of Eric Cosmopulos and Sebastian Ferrell proved tough for Burrillville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cosmopulos threw for 153 yards and one touchdown and Ferrell had 104 yards receiving. Tommy Chase helped Moses Brown's passing attack out by catching two balls for 17 yards.
Carney Crawford was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 35 carries, he ran for 171 yards as the Avengers defeated the Broncos. Alex Cleary also contributed to the rushing game with 15 yards on the ground.
Classical's Griffin Clark and Timothy Shea have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Clark has thrown for 1438 yards this season, while Shea has 34 catches for 632 yards. Randolph A. Butler Jr. from Middletown leads the league in rushing with 1313 yards.
A big matchup in Division III this week will be when Moses Brown takes on Ponaganset. As it stands, Willie Edwards' team is in third, while the Chieftains are in fourth.
The Quakers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 31 points on Burrillville. Andrew Howard ran for 152 yards and caught one passes for 13 yards in the win.
