The Rowe Warriors will face off against the Palmview Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Rowe sitting on eight straight wins and Palmview on four.
Last Wednesday, Rowe was able to grind out a solid victory over Sharyland, taking the game 7-3.
The team relied heavily on Alex Leon, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Garza, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Palmview's hitters rose to the challenge against a Rattlers pitching crew that boasted an average of only four runs allowed on Friday. Palmview was the clear victor by a 14-1 margin over Rio Grande City. Considering the Lobos have won six games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mateo Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Palmview got a big performance out of Adrian Garza, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Garza launched this season. Another player making a difference was Joseph Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Palmview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive contests.
Rowe's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Palmview, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rowe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Palmview struggles in that department as they've averaged .312. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rowe suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Palmview in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Rowe have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
