After both having extra time off, the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars and the West Craven Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. SouthWest Edgecombe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
SouthWest Edgecombe proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 13) and last Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Washington.

Mackenzie Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Iyera Winstead was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, West Craven waltzed into their contest last Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Riley Dixon was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Dixon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Jarman, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Izabella Sutton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
West Craven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
SouthWest Edgecombe is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for West Craven, their record now sits at 4-10.
West Craven's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. SouthWest Edgecombe has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West Craven, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will SouthWest Edgecombe keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
