Softball Recap: Belton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Waco

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belton). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Waco Lions a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.

Belton let Iris Molina and Tara Stone run wild. Molina scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while Stone scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Molina a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Schutz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Belton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .812. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Belton's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Waco, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4-1.

Looking ahead, Belton will host Lake Belton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Waco, they will venture away from home to square off against Ellison at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
