The Tri-Central Trojans will square off against the Wes-Del Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Tri-Central turned things around against Sheridan on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Blackhawks. That three run margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.
Claire Conrad was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Addy Mackey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Tri-Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wes-Del came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bearcats a 17-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Devyn Jaycox made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklynn Eden was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Anderson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Wes-Del pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Tri-Central, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tri-Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wes-Del struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tri-Central came up short against Wes-Del in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, falling 8-4. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
