Softball Recap: Pace Sets Scoring Season-High Against Donna

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pace). They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Donna Redskins on Friday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Redskins recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Valeria Alvarado was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Megan Mares, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Pace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Pace's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Donna, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16-1 record this season.

Pace will square off against Porter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Donna, they will take on Weslaco East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redskins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
