The Legacy Lightning will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th. Legacy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Fort Collins is ranked 23rd).
Last Friday, Legacy came up short against Horizon and fell 58-47. Legacy was down 50-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Fort Collins beat Fairview 51-39 on Saturday.
Fort Collins can attribute much of their success to Rhya Cano, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Avery Alcaraz, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Cano is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Kramar, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Legacy has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Fort Collins, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Legacy came up short against Fort Collins in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 49-44. Can Legacy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
