Atlantic Christian is 2-8 against The Pilgrim Academy since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cougars will head out to challenge the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. Atlantic Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Last Monday, Atlantic Christian made easy work of Wildwood Catholic and carried off a 17-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Aiden Martin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Costello, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Odell, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Atlantic Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, The Pilgrim Academy entered their tilt with Calvary Christian Academy on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins dating back to last season, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Cougars.
The Pilgrim Academy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke McGonagle, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Mason Parmer was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
The Pilgrim Academy pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Atlantic Christian, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Atlantic Christian suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to The Pilgrim Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
