The Urbana Tigers will head out to square off against the Centennial Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Urbana has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Urbana took on Normal West on Thursday. The Tigers lost 20-8 to the Wildcats.
Lillian Hall made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs. Katarina Riddle was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Centennial gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Rantoul as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Chargers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Zoe Goodreau made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maiyah Flemons, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Brylie Klaudt, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Urbana has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Centennial, their record now sits at 6-13.
Urbana came up short against Centennial in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
