The Mt. Clemens Battling Bathers waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Chandler Park Academy by a score of 34-24. This was payback for Mt. Clemens, who suffered a 37-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Mt. Clemens to victory were Le'ila Sears and Leah Williams. Sears dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, while Williams dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mozarria Cunigan, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Mt. Clemens has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Chandler Park Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Clemens will take on Michigan Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chandler Park Academy will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against River Rouge at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th. River Rouge is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
