The Shiocton Chiefs will face off against the Chilton Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Shiocton 4, Chilton 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Shiocton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Wittenberg-Birnamwood by a score of 3-0. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Chilton entered their tilt with Two Rivers on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Purple Raiders 20-0. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Slaytt Nolan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kale Wagner was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mike Vanden Heuvel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Chilton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Chilton's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Shiocton, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-3.
Shiocton suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Chilton in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Will the Chiefs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
