Newark Charter School has gone a perfect 4-0 against MOT Charter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Patriots will face off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Newark Charter School's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so MOT Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Newark Charter School took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Salesianum, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Sallies 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted against the Sallies since April 9, 2018.

Tristan Tynan was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shane Connor, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Charles Beitman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for MOT Charter, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They put the hurt on Glasgow with a sharp 18-7 win on Tuesday. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.
Ryder Adams was a standout: he scored three runs and stole seven bases while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Wronowicz, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
MOT Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Newark Charter School has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for MOT Charter, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Newark Charter School has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like MOT Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Newark Charter School's way against MOT Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Newark Charter School made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
