Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Milan's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Milan barely beat Union County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 17-6 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 15 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kynadee Bode was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Milan got a massive performance out of Caroline McMillan, who went 2-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those six RBI gave McMillan a new career-high. Emma Voss was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Milan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union County only posted an OBP of .269.

Milan is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Union County, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Milan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-1 win against Lawrenceburg on the 23rd. As for Union County, they will square off against Winchester Community at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Falcons have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
