Even though the Oskaloosa Bears have not done well against the Valley Falls Dragons recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Oskaloosa snuck past the Dragons with a 61-56 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Trenten Vanhoutan, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Coy Perry, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Valley Falls lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Damian Cervantez, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cervantez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zac Evans, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Valley Falls smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Oskaloosa's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5. As for Valley Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Oskaloosa won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Pleasant Ridge is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Valley Falls will take on the Chargers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
