The Liberty-Eylau Leopards will face off against the Sabine Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sabine took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Liberty-Eylau, who comes in off a win.
Liberty-Eylau is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Jefferson: they outscored them in every quarter. The Leopards blew past the Bulldogs 35-12 on Friday. That looming 35-12 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Leopards yet this season.
Liberty-Eylau relied on the efforts of Arian Taylor, who rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown, and Ty Hawkins, who picked up 38 receiving yards and one score. Taylor's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards. Quayvion Moore got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Liberty-Eylau didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Moore, MC Gulley, Bryston Cornelious, and Braeden Parrish picked up one apiece. Gulley also made ten total tackles, which is notable because Liberty-Eylau is 3-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-4 otherwise. Cade McLeod was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 14 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Special teams played a big role in the game for Liberty-Eylau, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kaiden Peacock, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Sabine was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Jefferson 47-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Cardinals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
The victory made it two in a row for Liberty-Eylau and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Sabine, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Liberty-Eylau has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 181.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Sabine, though, as they've been averaging only 79.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Liberty-Eylau against Sabine in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 64-0 victory. Do the Leopards have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
