Softball Recap: Central York Has No Trouble Against New Oxford

Central York won the last time they faced New Oxford and things went their way on Friday too. The Panthers blew past the Colonials 13-3. Considering the Panthers have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Craiger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Weigle and Claire Bohannon did most of the damage at the plate: Weigle went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Bohannon went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Weigle has posted since back in May of 2024. Olivia Holtzman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Central York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Central York's record now sits at 14-3. As for New Oxford, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central York will venture away from home to face off against Northeastern at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Oxford, they will head out to challenge Penn Manor at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
