In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 63-62 victory over Community Christian Academy. The win was just what St. Teresa's Catholic needed coming off of a 72-45 defeat in their prior contest.
Sermario MJ Wiggins and Ricardo Resendez were among the main playmakers for St. Teresa's Catholic as the former scored 23 points and the latter scored 31 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Resendez has scored all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to First Academy, who are still winless after their sixth match. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 42-34 loss to Colquitt Christian Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Logan James, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Logan Steele was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
St. Teresa's Catholic's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for First Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
