The Eisenhower Tigers were the 60-40 winner over the Newton Railroaders when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Eisenhower fell just short of Newton by a score of 55-53. Eisenhower has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Eisenhower still got an impressive performance from Larsen Schneider, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Pierce Blue, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Eisenhower now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Newton, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.
After both having extra time off, Eisenhower and Salina Central will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Salina Central is ranked 209th, while Eisenhower is ranked 227th). Newton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South on January 5, 2024. South comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
