Basketball Recap: Texas Lions Homeschool Beats Geneva for Their Ninth Straight Victory

Texas Lions HomeSchool entered their tilt with Geneva on Saturday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They strolled past the Geneva Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 77-59. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Eagles are ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Texas Lions HomeSchool's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trenton Page, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 13 points and four steals. Brian Stewart was another key player, going 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Texas Lions HomeSchool has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Geneva, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Texas Lions HomeSchool will be taking part in a tournament against Glenn at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Glenn knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Texas Lions HomeSchool likes a good challenge. As for Geneva, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on John Paul II on January 3, 2025. The timing isn't great for John Paul II: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Geneva has snatched up 11 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
