After a string of three wins, the Westside Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 72-35 loss at the hands of Blythewood. Westside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-10.
When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joshua Williams. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with four steals. The matchup was Williams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Marshall, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Blythewood was led to victory by Austin Coker and Taurus Lewis Jr. Coker scored 13 points, while Lewis Jr scored 11 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The game was Coker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Will Olden was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Westside now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Blythewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Westside will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Greer at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Greer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westside in South Carolina (Greer is ranked 17th, while Westside is ranked 94th). As for Blythewood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against White Knoll at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
