Softball Game Preview: Archbishop Wood Vikings vs. Central Bucks South Titans

The Archbishop Wood Vikings will challenge the Central Bucks South Titans at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Central Bucks South will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Archbishop Wood extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Vikings put the hurt on Neumann-Goretti with a sharp 15-2 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Graciene Gale made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Gale was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Georgia Mackin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Whalen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Archbishop Wood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central Bucks South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Central Bucks East get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday.

Archbishop Wood's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central Bucks South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
