Basketball Recap: Chillicothe Piles Up the Points Against Brookfield

Chillicothe won the last time they faced Brookfield and things went their way on Monday too. The Chillicothe Hornets took their match with ease, bagging a 53-23 win over the Brookfield Bulldogs. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chillicothe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Oliver Perry out in front who went 6 of 7 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Perry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Langsten Johnson, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Chillicothe is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Brookfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chillicothe will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bishop LeBlond at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Brookfield will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Penney at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
