The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dunedin 76-36 at home. Clearwater Central Catholic's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Clearwater Central Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emme Dalhoff out in front who scored 13 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Cali Smitley was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Dunedin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Haylee Dones. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points along with two steals. Dones has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Kabamba, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
The victory (which was Clearwater Central Catholic's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Dunedin, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Clearwater Central Catholic will head out on the road to challenge Palm Harbor University at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Palm Harbor University will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Clearwater Central Catholic is ranked 105th). As for Dunedin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses for Jefferson and three for Dunedin.
