After flying high against the Liberty Chargers last Tuesday, the Discovery Spartans came back down to earth. Discovery took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Fe Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Discovery has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Discovery still got an impressive performance from Darius Livingston, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Lucson Jean, who scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Tate Darner, who scored 21 points along with three steals for Santa Fe Catholic. Darner is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Malikai Broffitt was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Discovery's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Santa Fe Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Discovery on the road again on Saturday and play against Mariner at 10:40 a.m. on January 20th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Marcus Kelley Jr and Livingston. Santa Fe Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. George Jenkins will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 553rd, while Santa Fe Catholic is ranked 29th).
