University Park will head out on the road to challenge the Douglas Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. University Park is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
On Friday, University Park lost to the Beavers on the road by a decisive 69-54 margin. University Park has struggled against the Beavers recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Douglas came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 63-41 margin over Blackstone-Millville. Douglas pushed the score to 56-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers cut but never quite recovered from.
Colton Howard was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Nolan, who scored nine points.
University Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Douglas, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
University Park skirted past the Tigers 61-59 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for University Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
