The Caston Comets had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They pulled ahead with a 37-36 photo finish over Tri-County. The victory was nothing new for Caston as they're now sitting on three straight.
Caston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Zimpleman, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Zimpleman has scored at least a third of Caston's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Scales, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Tri-County lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sara Zarse, who scored six points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. Zarse is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Arvin, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Caston's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Tri-County, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.
Caston and the Bruins will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Bethany Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday. Tri-County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
