Western Harnett is 1-9 against the Hawks since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Western Harnett Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Triton Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Western Harnett comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, Western Harnett suffered a tough 67-42 defeat at the hands of the Jaguars. While losing is never fun, Western Harnett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 624th, while the Jaguars are ranked 311th).
Meanwhile, Triton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 67-56 to Westover. Triton has struggled against the Wolverines recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Triton saw an underclassman step up: Jamaury Taylor scored 14 points along with two steals. Romello Pegues was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Western Harnett's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Triton, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
Western Harnett might still be hurting after the 56-34 loss they got from the Hawks when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can Western Harnett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
