The Alamo Heights Mules waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with 18 straight wins but they left with 19. They walked away with a 50-38 victory over Jefferson. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Jefferson is ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alamo Heights found their leader in underclassman Alex Elliott, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Elliott has scored all season. Hayes Waddy was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Alamo Heights' victory was their 20th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Jefferson, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alamo Heights will square off against Lanier at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lanier will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Jefferson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Highlands at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th.
