It was a good run, but the Campolindo Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clayton Valley Charter. Campolindo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clayton Valley Charter apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Rendle, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Smith, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Elijah Perryman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clayton Valley Charter, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Perryman hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was James Moore, who scored six points along with two steals.
Campolindo's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Campolindo will be playing at home against Mt. Diablo at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Diablo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1118th, while Campolindo is ranked 47th). As for Clayton Valley Charter, they will take on Capital Christian at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. Capital Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 466 points over their last six matches.
