Even though the Beach Bulldogs scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, the Liberty County Panthers still came out on top. Liberty County took their contest against the Bulldogs 64-56. Given Liberty County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Newton, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Newton pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ke'juan Lindsay was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Liberty County pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Beach, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Liberty County will head out on the road to take on the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Beach, they will be playing at home against the Atomsmashers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Bulldogs like a good challenge.
