The Amundsen Vikings will head out to square off against the DePaul College Prep Rams at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Amundsen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Prosser 12-2. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Ben Weihing looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Pierce Bakker was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Amundsen's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 8-21-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Bennett Newman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Amundsen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, DePaul College Prep never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Northtown with a sharp 17-0 win. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rams yet this season.
Gavin Variano looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dylan Hecht was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Hecht, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Amundsen's record is now 12-22-1. As for DePaul College Prep, their record now sits at 23-12.
Amundsen couldn't quite finish off DePaul College Prep in their previous matchup back in April and fell 7-5. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
