Despite the loss, Cristo Rey St. Martin saw an underclassman step up: Lebron Massey dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Massey hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games.
Meanwhile, North Shore Country Day came up short against Northridge last Wednesday and fell 60-51. While losing is never fun, North Shore Country Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 627th, while Northridge is ranked 310th).
Cristo Rey St. Martin has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for North Shore Country Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Cristo Rey St. Martin beat North Shore Country Day 48-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cristo Rey St. Martin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
