After flying high against the Galion Tigers last Friday, the River Valley Vikings came back down to earth. River Valley fell to Cardington-Lincoln 40-36. River Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cardington-Lincoln apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Cardington-Lincoln's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinstin Henthorn, who scored 12 points. The match was Henthorn's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jill Bertke, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
River Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Cardington-Lincoln, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
River Valley will finish 2023 at home by hosting Jonathan Alder at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cardington-Lincoln will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Loudonville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Loudonville will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
