Ligonier Valley were fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Blairsville 49-6. Followers of Ligonier Valley probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected eight blowout victories.
Ligonier Valley's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 28 first-half points. Meanwhile, Blairsville couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 28-0 heading into the break. Ligonier Valley put the matchup away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and six points allowed from the defense.
Junior Kyrie Miller was the offensive standout of the match for Ligonier Valley, as he rushed for 156 yards and 5 touchdowns. That makes it five straight good games in a row from Miller. Junior Sam Sheeder also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
Ligonier Valley have yet to lose this season, and the victory brought them up to 9-0. Blairsville are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
After their action against one another, the teams are leaving the conference to test themselves against outside opponents. Next week Ligonier Valley will take on Shade at 7:00 PM. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown. As for Blairsville, they will face off against TBA.
