The Alexandria City Titans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They snuck past South County with a 53-49 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Alexandria City, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Alexandria City to victory were Darius Bivins and Kye Robinson. Bivins scored 16 points along with four steals, while Robinson scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Bivins has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christian "CJ" Washington, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Alexandria City pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for South County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alexandria City will take on West Springfield at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. West Springfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Alexandria City is ranked 25th). As for South County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Woodson at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Woodson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
