The Northern Virginia HomeSchool Centurions came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They rang in the new year with a 51-38 victory over Victory Baptist Academy. Northern Virginia HomeSchool's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Among those leading the charge was Gabe Drown, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua/Khase Anderson, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Victory Baptist Academy saw an underclassman step up: Landon Cormican scored 19 points. The match was Cormican's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Conaway, who scored seven points.
Northern Virginia HomeSchool's victory bumped their record up to 5-1-1. As for Victory Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Northern Virginia HomeSchool will take on Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Northern Virginia HomeSchool is ranked 107th). As for Victory Baptist Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
