Basketball Game Preview: Orange Panthers vs. Southern Alamance Patriots

The Orange Panthers will take on the Southern Alamance Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Orange is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Orange made easy work of Person and carried off a 61-39 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Rockets are ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evelyn George was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 12 on her way to 22 points and three steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Maura Mcmurtry was another key player, going 5 for 6 en route to 15 points.

Orange smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 18 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Southern Alamance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost to Providence Grove on the road by a 43-27 margin. That's two games in a row now that Southern Alamance has lost by exactly 16 points.

Orange has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Southern Alamance, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Everything came up roses for Orange against Southern Alamance when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 56-13 win. In that game, Orange amassed a halftime lead of 36-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
