Rivercrest has gone 8-2 against Harrisburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rivercrest Colts will head out to challenge the Harrisburg Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Rivercrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
Last Friday, Rivercrest ended up a good deal behind Izard County and lost 61-43. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Cougars are ranked 30th).
Rivercrest's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jalexia Young, who posted eight points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Young has posted since back in November of 2024. Destiny Burks was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.
Even though they lost, Rivercrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Harrisburg had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Osceola 63-41 on Monday. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 22 points or more this season.
Harrisburg's win came from a few key players Rivercrest will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elisabeth Green, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 21 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alesia Rand, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.
The win (which was Harrisburg's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.8 points. As for Rivercrest, their loss dropped their record down to 17-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rivercrest has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Harrisburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Rivercrest strolled past Harrisburg in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 63-46. Does Rivercrest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harrisburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
