On Saturday, the stars were shining brightly for Covenant Day in a 63-49 victory over Davidson Day. The win was all the more spectacular given Covenant Day's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Davidson Day is ranked 12th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Covenant Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyree White, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and five assists. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Patrick Penosky, who scored 13 points.
The victory got Covenant Day back to even at 5-5. As for Davidson Day, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.
Covenant Day will be home for the holidays to greet Union Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Davidson Day will take on Gaston Christian in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Gaston Christian will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
