The Avalon Lancers came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 60-47 victory over Anaheim Discovery Christian. That's two games straight that Avalon has won by exactly 13 points.
Avalon was led to victory by Darren Hall and Jacob Mello. Hall scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Mello scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mello has scored at least a third of Avalon's points. David Talsky was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Avalon pushed their record up to 6-14 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Anaheim Discovery Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avalon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Magnolia Science Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Anaheim Discovery Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southlands Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
