It's playoff time, and Lanesville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They snuck past the Providence Pioneers with a 56-50 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lanesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shelby Allen, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Allen a new career-high in blocks (five). Hylton Brumley was another key player, putting up 16 points and three steals.
Lanesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence only pulled down five offensive boards.
Despite the loss, Providence saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayda Kempf went 8 for 15 on her way to 22 points. Kempf also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 53%. Another player making a difference was Molly Richards, who went 5 of 6 en route to 12 points and five assists.
Lanesville's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Providence, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.
Lanesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-28 victory against Eastern on the 8th. Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
